Alumni Community

The alumni community of the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum is proud to support Collegium and its singers. We provide managerial and financial support to the choir and its student-led programming, all while maintaining Collegium community around the world and supporting choral singing more broadly. All Collegium singers, past and present, are part of our community.

Despite their affiliation with Harvard University, Collegium and the other Harvard Choruses do not receive enough funding from the university each year to support their concerts, new music commissions, tours, subsidized student voice lessons, and other programming. As a result, they must raise a significant proportion of their budget each year. The Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum alumni community needs your financial support so we can continue to support Collegium and make the Collegium experience accessible to all.

Host students on tours

The Harvard Choruses have a long tradition of domestic and international tours. These tours are made possible by alumni who generously open their hearts and homes to host undergraduate and graduate student singers. If you are interested in hosting one or several Collegium, Glee Club, or Radcliffe Choral Society singers in your home, let us know by filling out our contact information form.

Organize local community

We strive to keep Collegium’s spirit and community alive in cities all around the globe. Our community is 1,000+ alumni strong and growing! If you’re interested in helping plan alumni events in your city or in serving as a point person for alumni when any of the Harvard Choruses visit on tour, let us know by filling out our contact information form.

Join the board

Alumni Initiatives

The alumni of the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum provide financial and managerial support to the choir and its student leadership. We advise the executive committee, tour core, and special projects groups, supporting current singers in leading the choir and determining its future. We provide funds for performances of major works, commissions, subsidized voice lessons, financial aid for students on tours, and other projects. We often work in partnership with the alumni of the other Harvard Choruses (the Harvard Glee Club and Radcliffe Choral Society).

The Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum alumni community also serves as a network and resource for the growing number of Collegium alumni in the United States and around the world. Through alumni programming, we hope to connect alumni from all eras through the shared experience of singing in Collegium and support their continued engagement with choral music.

History of Collegium's Alumni Community

1978

The Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum Foundation, Inc. is established on April 11, 1978, with initial funding from surplus funds raised for Collegium’s 1976 tour of Western Europe and a $10,000 grant from the Harvard Lampoon originally made to the fledgling Collegium.

1990

The alumni and friends of Collegium, the Harvard Glee Club, and the Radcliffe Choral Society establish the Harvard-Radcliffe Endowment for Choral Music to support choral music at Harvard and what are today known as the Harvard Choruses.

2002

The alumni of Collegium, along with alumni of the other Harvard Choruses, begin support of Holden Voice Program to subsidize voice lessons for current members of the Harvard Choruses.

2022

Collegium celebrates its 50th anniversary.

2023

Collegium heads to Sweden on its 12th international tour, with financial aid for singers provided by alumni.
